Which overhead shower for which shower space?

A mini shower cubicle or spacious walk-in shower: hansgrohe rain showers with angle adjustment can be adapted to each customer’s specific bathroom architecture. But you do need to take a few figures and measurements into consideration before installation.

Which factors determine the choice of overhead shower?

  1. The size of the shower area
  2. The diameter of the shower head
  3. The throw distance of the sprays
  4. The pressure ratios

hansgrohe’s indulgent showers put to the test

Important when choosing the best rain shower: Most overhead showers require a minimum operating pressure so that they can create a lovely spray pattern and spread a feel-good sensation. Please check the required values with us online: They are provided in the flowcharts in the product data sheets, which are available to download for each shower.

Our practical shower test revealed clear results for pressure and throw distance. You can find more information on all parameters at the bottom of this page.*

Shower area? Wet area? Dry area?

Now to your installation. Please calculate the available shower space you should plan for. Please note: Many of your customers want a dry zone in the shower – a place for towels, bathrooms and furniture that must remain dry. You need to plan in this buffer zone for rain showers that spray water at an angle. The values in our planning examples refer to the wet area.

The shower area often consists of a wet and dry zone.
Important for your planning: The available wet area predetermines your customer’s shower area. Please always subtract the dry area to avoid mistakes.

The best rain showers for shower areas of up to 90 x 90 cm

This is the most common shower space customers have. For the conventional 90 x 90 cm shower area, you can recommend and install all three hansgrohe overhead showers with adjustable angles:

  • Pulsify S 260
  • Rainfinity 250
  • Rainfinity 360

Each of the example images for the throw distance shows a different operating pressure and inclination angle.

The ceiling-mounted Pulsify S: a perfect all-rounder

For the 90 x 90 cm shower size, the ceiling-mounted Pulsify S 260 overhead shower with PowderRain is the hansgrohe all-rounder for every need. In this downpour version of the Pulsify, the shower arm has a variable length and position so that it can be adapted to the user(s) during installation. The shower arm is available in lengths of 240 and 390 mm and sits in the middle of the ball joint.

Example calculation for the installation:

  • Divide the diameter of the spray pattern on the floor (roughly 450 mm at 2 bar) by 2 = 225 mm.
  • To this 225 mm, add the length of the shower arm plus the distance between the wall and the shower arm (in exposed installation systems).
  • A shower arm with a 390 mm length and 50 mm distance from the wall therefore has a throw distance of 665 mm.

In addition to the Pulsify S, the hansgrohe range boasts a variety of ceiling-mounted overhead showers perfect for smaller shower areas.

The best rain showers for 100 x 100 cm shower areas

For a 100 x 100 cm shower area, you can recommend and install these two hansgrohe overhead showers with angle adjustment:

  • Pulsify S 260
  • Rainfinity 250

Each of the example images for the throw distance shows a different operating pressure and inclination angle.

The best rain shower for shower areas of 120 x 100 cm and above

For standard and walk-in shower areas of 120 x 100 cm, you can recommend and install the hansgrohe Pulsify S 260 overhead shower with angle adjustment. This is also highly suitable for even bigger shower spaces. In each of the images showing examples of the throw distance, the operating pressure and inclination angle are different.
As a reminder: You must check the water pressure in your customer’s bathroom before making your recommendation.

*Key information on the measurement data in our practical test

  • The hansgrohe overhead showers with adjustable angles were affixed at a standard height of 2.05 m.
  • The sprays’ throw distances were physically measured from the shower’s tap design (thermostatic mixer/tap/concealed valve) at 2 and 3 bar operating pressure.
  • You should allow for slight deviations of up to +/- 50 mm in the throw distance. This has already been factored into the planning examples.
  • The throw distance of the PowderRain spray type was tested. Values may deviate slightly in multi-spray overhead showers that also feature Intense PowderRain.
